Watanabe Seitei (渡辺省亭, 1851 – 1918), also known as Watanabe Shōtei, was a Japanese Nihonga painter. Seitei combined Western realism with the delicate colors and wash techniques of the Kikuchi Yōsai school.
In these drawings, the impressive juxtaposition of almost photorealistic details, often emerging as if from a delicate mist, and the untreated silk canvas unfolds a particularly impactful radiance.
