Sir Mathew Digby Wyatt: A Group of Crystal Vases and Indian Jewellery

Plate 40 from the catalog of the ‘Great Exhibition’ – the London World’s Fair of 1851.

Each individual piece in this series is a stylish and colorful wall jewel that can be at home in almost any room. The balanced compositions follow the classical tradition of the still life and show an astonishingly rich attention to detail in muted, rich colors. We particularly love the super-fine details of the objects depicted.

The London Great Exhibition of 1851
This is a reproduction from the imposing two-volume publication‘The Industrial Arts of the Nineteenth Century: a series of illustrations of the choicest specimens at the great Industrial Exhibition of 1851, produced in all nations’.

The editor was Sir Matthew Digby Wyatt (1820 – 1877), a British architect and art historian. He was the secretary of this first world exhibition in 1851. A gigantic glass exhibition hall, the Crystal Palace, was built in London’s Hyde Park for this ‘Great Exhibition’. Queen Victoria was an enthusiastic visitor to the exhibition and also purchased this two-volume ‘catalog’ herself.

We have prepared each individual work with attention to detail. For this series, we have given the individual pictures new ‘passe-partouts’ and also reset the caption in historical style. With our new editions, we aim to transform these artistic lithographs into contemporary art prints that can be hung in a variety of rooms – be it the living room, bedroom or office.

This edition is particularly suitable for arranging in rows of two, three or even larger and can create a harmonious overall look in connected rooms. Therefore, a 20% discount applies when ordering two, and a whopping 25% discount when ordering three or more prints from this series.
In addition, the shipping costs remain at our usual flat rate.
