Ella is an artist of outstanding skill, based on a lifetime of practice which has developed over many years. Her skills testify to a deep connection with the history of painting. What particularly appeals to us about her works is the successful fusion of traditional elements with contemporary themes. One can clearly recognise the inspiration of the old masters such as Caravaggio, who also often thematised ‘outsiders’ in his works, albeit more metaphorically and according to the circumstances of the time.
