An icon in the history of Western art:
Albrecht Dürer’s Rhinocerus
The original of this fantastic print, which can be seen here in a inverted copy after Dürer by Enea Vico, was made by Albrecht Dürer in 1515. Surprisingly, Dürer never saw the animal in person, but made his woodcut based on second-hand information. This copy by Enea Vico is from 1548 – as marked at the top of the print.
With the Xeuxis Edition, we want to turn this much-reproduced work into a contemporary art print that can be an enrichment for both a modern and a more classic interior.
This high-resolution reproduction of the original engraving is available on silk-matt fine art paper or on the luxurious Hahnemühle Photo Rag.
We find that the matt Hahnemühle paper is the perfect choice for reproducing historical engravings.
A very modern variant is a really large enlargement of such engravings, e.g. to 80x120cm. (Hahnemühle Paper: maximum 90×60 cm).

* In the case of historical originals, we retouch rough imperfections. However, we have also deliberately leave some traces of age of the original work where we feel this is appropriate.
