A fun vintage poster from the late 19th century: the invitation to a fundraiser for the ‘Branch Association Berlin of the Patriotic Women’s Association. The glass holding Siren-type lady is an obvious reference to the Loreley, a rock around which the River Rhine flows in a steep curve, and where many ships have had accidents – as the Lady Loreley was sitting on the rock singing and combing her long golden hair…<\/p>\n

‘Bei Kroll’ means that the evening took place at the Kroll Opera House in Berlin, which was located opposite the Reichstag building.<\/p>\n

An original poster can be found in the collection of the Staatlichen Museen Berlin.<\/p>\n
