As an artist who uses photography as a medium that can be easily reproduced, I have often questioned the commercial system of the art market. These considerations, combined with my passion for reproductions and for historical prints, led to the idea of Xeuxis Editions.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Thank you for your interest. My name is Klaus, and I am the founder of this online store.<\/p>\n\n

For me, Xeuxis is the result of a lifelong journey through the multi-layered art world. My educational background includes a degree in photography, a doctorate in art and many years of teaching art.<\/p>\n\n

As an artist, I have exhibited in a wide variety of places – from modest basements to caf\u00e9s, studios, artist-run exhibition spaces to glamorous art fairs. I have curated exhibitions in museums and exhibited in galleries where my photographs were offered at prices that were unaffordable for most of my acquaintances and followers of my work.<\/p>\n\n

The artificiality of limited editions and the corresponding price-ploitics of the art market system has always been rather dubious to me. As a photographer, using a medium that is based on easy reproduction, this system of the ‘limited edition’ has always been particularly questionable to me.<\/p>\n\n

I myself am an avid collector of affordable historical etchings, which were often produced as representations and reproductions of artworks such as paintings and sculptures. A hero of art history for me is Albrecht D\u00fcrer, who clearly recognized the potential of reproducible prints.<\/p>\n\n

A good print, even of a frequently reproduced image, is always a new, contemporary work of art – just as copperplate engravings were in past eras. To summarize: I am a lover and collector of high-quality reproductions – and that is exactly what Xeuxis Editions are.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n
